Also known as Holy Basil, the next star of our series is another adaptogen. Other herbs in this class include guduchi and shatavari.
This plant contains vitamin C and zinc, so it can strengthen the immune system. This way, it helps prevent fevers or at least reduces the severity. Tulasi contains calcium and iron as well. Therefore, it can be used to support bone health and provide supplementation for women of child-bearing age. In addition, holy basil is high in antioxidants and so it can play a role in reducing the risk of hypertension, diabetes, and other inflammatory diseases.*
The herb is a member of the basil and mint family. It is popularly used in tea, combined with other ingredients like ginger and turmeric. With fall’s quick arrival, this excellent drink will keep you warm and healthy throughout the season.
